Rodney, author of the Inspector Grimes Rhymes with Crimes mystery novels, is obsessed with comfort food from two competing food trucks. That tasty rivalry gets a dash of suspense when a famous food truck cook is kidnapped, threatening much more than Rodney’s access to comfort food in town, be it buttered, battered, or baked.
Rodney’s attempts to play real-life amateur detective fizzle. With nowhere else to turn, he calls on his own fictional detective, the Sherlock Holmes-like Inspector Grimes, to help foil a food truck cook with a dark secret and a plan for revenge that could very well be called Worse Than Murder!
Worse Than Murder is a parody of a cozy culinary mystery. More of a ‘whydunit?’ and ‘howcatchem?’ than a ‘whodunit?’ It also explores relationships between fiction and reality using sarcastic humor that seems off-the-wall, yet is grounded in everyday life. Worse Than Murder includes five humorous comfort-food recipes. It is first in a series of Inspector Grimes Rhymes with Crimes parodies of mysteries.
